From the retirees who volunteer for local chapters of the Red Cross and United Way to the festivals and sporting events of near by Clemson University the area has so much to offer for any type of lifestyle.
Just taking a ride along some of the back roads toward the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains you will get a feel for laid back atmosphere of the area as you see people sitting on their front porch waving at each car as they pass by or as you pass a roadside stand featuring local vegetables, honey and jellies.
If your not in the mood for long scenic drives you could take in local shopping in one of the many art galleries or crafts shops in Seneca or Clemson. And then finish off your day with a meal at one of the many restaurants in the area.
Also, you will notice the presence of many clubs and organizations throughout the upstate for art, crafts, quilting, sailing, theater, books, bridge and more. The sense of community is also evident with the many volunteer organizations such as local fire and EMS districts, Habitat for Humanity, the Humane Society, Good Will and Salvation Army.
As you can see there are many things to do outside of the shores of Lake Keowee that contribute to the laid back lifestyle of the Upstate.
