Lake KeoweeLake Keowee is located on the border of Oconee and Pickens counties in the northwest corner, also known as the golden corner, of South Carolina. Lake Keowee is a man made lake which was formed in 1971 as part of the Keowee-Toxaway complex built by Duke Power. Covering 18,500 acres and with over 300 miles of shoreline and average depth of 52 feet Lake Keowee’s clear waters are nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains. There are several parks (both state and county) around the lake to preserve the beauty of the lake and to provide public recreational access. Lake Keowee is bordered to the north by Lake Jocassee which is feed by clear mountain streams and rivers which finds its way into Lake Keowee.
